Folks Will Be Able to “Picture” Themselves in the Stands at Astoria Home Games
The Astoria High School freshman and sophomore classes are currently taking orders for 24” X 36” picture posters which will be hung in the bleachers at all indoor Astoria home games for the rest of the school year.
At this time, the number of spectators at sporting events is extremely limited to try to protect the health and safety of players, coaches, and families. These pictures will let you be there virtually for the players and the money raised will help offset money being lost by the classes because they can not sell concessions. Concession sales almost exclusively pay for prom, senior trip, annual class color t-shirts, graduation roses, etc. Stevens Publishing has generously offered to print the posters for free so that all of the money will go to the freshman and sophomore classes.
Posters are $20 each and will be used for all games at Astoria. Please send checks to Astoria High School, 402 N. Jefferson, or with your student/player. The school district is currently working on a way to set up online pay; check the school website and Facebook page for updates. Picture are to be emailed to Catharine Reavley, creavley@acusd1.org, and will not be printed until payment is received.
In order to have a quality image which can be enlarged, you must follow these guidelines: the picture must be from the waist up, it must not be from Facebook or another internet source, it should be the original camera photo taken from a minimum 8 megapixel camera (iPhone 4 or later and Android equivalent should be fine), it should be a jpeg taken on normal settings, the file should be approximately 5Mb or larger, and it should not be blurry. The enlargement process will amplify any issues with blurriness or picture quality.
Order your pictures soon as some athletic seasons have already begun.
Please print and fill out all forms and bring them to the PreK Screening.

DownloadAs is required by the Illinois State School Board the 5-Essentials Survey is given yearly to gather feedback from parents. The 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that lead to improved outcomes for all students, including improved attendance and larger test score gains.
The five indicators that positively affect school success are:
Research derived from the Five Essentials for School Success has proven that schools strong on at least three of the 5Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student outcomes.
Schools across Illinois participated in the eighth annual 5Essentials Survey of Learning Conditions: Organizing Schools for Improvement this past academic year. This survey generates valuable data that districts can use to guide their ongoing efforts to improve schools and to offer students an excellent education. The survey is another improvement tool that allows districts and the state to share data as a means to inform parents and community members about the school’s learning environment. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education.
